THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I CAN DO FOR MYSELF.

The most important thing I can do for myself

For the last few months I have been very busy. I have often worked crazy hours…everyday… busy busy, certainly all very worthwhile tasks (building a new website, promoting the WFF International Commonwealth Classic Pro-Am, developing ProComp’s new online Pro-Metabolic fat loss program…oh….and in between all of that…I even moved house). I would constantly remind myself all this is work is essential to do and I pushed through each day. 

But amongst all of this focus and business, do you know what happened…yup …I NEGLECTED MYSELF. 

My physical, nutritional, emotional and social needs just did not get a look in on my priority list. 

I did only the bare necessities when I trained. I let my nutrition slip to what I felt was “good enough”, I did not rest, I did not prioritise any downtime, I haven’t picked up a good book all year nor have I written in my journals. 

I HAVE JUST HAD A BREAK AND FINALLY….TOOK CARE OF MYSELF
I have just spent a few absolutely relaxing, stress free, wonderful days away from everything. I read a book, I swam, I sun baked, I took long baths, I daydreamed, I starting writing again, I slept in, I listened to great music, I danced to the said great music, I moisturised my skin every day, I trained how I should train with intensity and my nutrition was clean, nourishing, nutritious Pro-Metabolic food at EVERY meal. 

I AM ALIVE AGAIN!
My skin is glowing, my energy is bubbling over, I feel alive, rested, the dark bags under my eyes have disappeared, and I have found a new level of enthusiasm for life, my personal dreams and plans for ProComp, ProComps’s athletes and clients. I am so excited and once again I feel passionate about who I am and what I do again. 

So this may sound harsh, but neglecting my own needs has actually been similar to self-harm. Self-denial, a lack of down time, poor personal care or not enough time doing things that are good for my soul has been like allowing a thief to steal my life. 

SELF CARE. SELF WORTH. SELF RESPECT.
Self-care on a daily basis is one of the foundations for a happy life. 
This means looking after my health with the RIGHT food at every meal. 
This means training and keep my physical body strong and fit.
This means having enough sleep, spending time with those I connect with, and allowing my soul to find it’s own music. 

NEGLECTING MY OWN NEEDS, working excessive hours, not preparing nourishing meals or not training my body every day is self-neglect and here I have been telling myself it is acceptable. If I want my children to see themselves as worthy and to respect both their health, mind and body, if I want to feel alive and happy then it is essential to model and prioritise self-worth and self-care as much as I model a good work ethic, a tidy home and a successful business. 

So prioritise nourishing your body, your soul, your health and those you love. Everything starts from here.
